We Created a Race and Helped Support Mental Health Along the Way

At For the Run, we’ve always been driven by a passion for running and a commitment to giving back. During the challenging times of COVID-19, we wanted to find a way to support the running community while also contributing to a cause that matters deeply to us. That’s when we launched our “I Ran a Race” virtual event, and yes we actually called it that. It was a virtual event that allowed runners to stay active and connected, all while making a difference.

Bringing the Virtual Race to Life

Creating a memorable virtual race experience involved a significant amount of planning and collaboration. We began by designing and producing race bibs and medals that captured the spirit of the event. We also made two shirts that we love. The first being a lead up shirt that said, "It's Race Week MotherF*****s" which has become a popular item in our shop even after the event. The second shirt was a finisher shirt that simply said, "I Ran a Race For This Shirt".

Beyond the swag, we wanted to make this event even more special, so we collaborated with other running companies to offer exclusive discounts and promotions. By partnering with like-minded brands, we were able to provide our participants with added value and create a sense of community among runners, even from a distance.

Supporting a Vital Cause

25% of the profits from our “I Ran a Race” virtual event were directed towards the Still I Run Starting Line Scholarship. We proudly donated $750 to this scholarship fund, which supports individuals who are seeking mental health resources and support. The Still I Run organization is dedicated to raising awareness about mental health through running, and their Starting Line Scholarship helps make mental health services more accessible to those in need.

Connecting and Inspiring

Our virtual race was not just about running; it was about creating a shared experience and fostering a sense of unity within the running community. As runners participated in their own races, they were part of something bigger—an effort to support mental health and make a positive impact. We were thrilled to see the enthusiasm and dedication of our participants, who embraced the challenge and contributed to a meaningful cause.

Celebrating Success in a Crazy Situation

Reflecting on the “I Ran a Race” virtual event, we’re grateful for the opportunity to combine our love for running with our commitment to giving back. Especially at a time where we all felt so disconnected. The support from our community and the collaboration with other running brands made this initiative a success. We’re proud of the $750 donation made to the Still I Run Starting Line Scholarship and the positive impact it will have on mental health support.

At For the Run, we believe in the power of running to bring people together and create change. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event. Together, we’ve shown that even in challenging times, we can make a difference and run towards a brighter future.

Stay tuned for more ways we’ll be connecting with the running community and supporting important causes. Here’s to many more miles of running, giving back, and making a positive impact together.
