Our Inaugural Donation to Brave Like Gabe

Launching For the Run in June 2019 was an exciting time. Our aim when we started was to be a company deeply rooted in the running community, we wanted our first steps to reflect our values and commitment to making a positive impact. From the outset, it was clear that giving back would be an integral part of our journey. With that in mind, we decided to donate 50% of our profits from the first week of sales to Brave Like Gabe, a non-profit organization that held a special place in our hearts.

Inspired by Gabe Grunewald

Gabe Grunewald was more than just a name to us; she was a source of inspiration. As a professional runner who bravely battled a rare form of cancer, Gabe's strength and resilience resonated with us deeply. Her non-profit, Brave Like Gabe, was dedicated to funding rare cancer research and supporting those affected by these challenging diagnoses. We had followed Gabe's journey closely, and her story became a motivating force behind our decision to start running again.

A Heartfelt Decision

Just days before we opened For the Run, Gabe Grunewald passed away. The timing was poignant and bittersweet. Her passing solidified our commitment to making Brave Like Gabe the first cause we supported. We knew that our inaugural donation would be a tribute to her legacy and an acknowledgment of the profound impact she had on the running community and beyond.

In our first week of sales, we were overwhelmed by how so many runners showed up to support us. We knew it wasn't just to support our new venture, but to honor Gabe’s legacy. Thanks to this collective effort, we were able to make a meaningful donation of $200 to Brave Like Gabe. This contribution was a testament to the power of community and the difference we can make when we unite for a cause.
